This requires all mobile houses to be built on a non-removable steel chassis that severely limits their design options. These homes can have any feature a traditionally built house enjoys. You can have glass sunrooms, extra tall ceilings, warm fireplaces and anything else you can dream up for your custom floor plan. Even with customized plans, you will save time and save money with modular. The companies which build the modular homes on our list were judged according to a few different criteria. Many reviews about the hive houses suggest that having a prefab modular house actually worth the investment.

Architectural design, project management, Research into alternative construction types, LEED administration. Hive has just launched a camera and is promising further additions to its device offerings later in the year, including a Leak Sensor for your plumbing and an updated Hub that can listen for sounds like a smoke alarm going off. Fortunately it only took the hub a few seconds to find each of the devices as I added them. All Hive home designs allow you to easily add square footage in the future. The unique design of these homes allow you to start out with just the right size for your current family, and as your family grows, add new rooms to the structure.
Erosion Control
Sometimes you have to head off into the settings to find something, while changing things like the heating schedule is a bit tedious - although the browser app makes things simpler. The Active Plug can also be controlled with on and off switching from your smartphone, as well as offering a large push-button on/off switch on the top, so you don't have to use your phone to turn it on. Equally, when you're quaffing sangria on the beach and motion is detected in your garage, that could be a cause for concern. Alerts can be delivered through the app, but you also get the option to create recipes in the IFTTT sense so that actions can result from a detection.

The big difference is that these prefab homes are pre-built in factories and assembled on-site. Explore our gallery of modular home floor plans highlighting hundreds of prefab home plans from builders across the construction industry. Keep in mind that you can use these plans as a starting point and customize them to suit all your needs. Modular homes match the quality and appearance of traditional stick-built houses.
First Floor
These concept homes are unique and often feature large open floor plans. Design concepts often include clean lines for a modern and comfortable home that’s welcoming and warm. Some floor plans also preserve the loft-like design with catwalks that allow you to maximize the home’s vertical space. All of these names refer to real-life projects and from these buildings, it's possible to showcase what sort of properties can be built through Hive Modular's custom service. The company has provided two base designs for customers to use as a platform for ideas, but on the whole all of the dwellings that originate from X-Line are utterly unique. This means that the range has been responsible for some weird and wonderful homes and if you possess the budget to purchase a custom design, then this could be a very exciting route.

And the engineer told us that the cables used for these products cannot be expanded in anyway, which we think is a shame. While the keypad and hub feel sturdy and robust, the contact and motion sensors feel a little on the cheaper side. They are relatively less expensive to purchase individually but on several occasions the contact sensor jumped off the door when we let it slam shut and thus came apart, with the battery falling out. The way these sensors close once you’ve installed a battery do not seem very secure and they feel a little flimsy in comparison to the keypad, for instance. However, the main component, which the HomeShield system is centered around, is the Hive Siren. Acting as its own deterrent, Siren sits proudly on your outside wall, boasting a blue LED status to show potential burglars that you mean business.
Construction Safety
Although there are three common models, some full-service architectural office specialized in prefabrication like the Hive Modular offers some interesting concepts to offer. The various devices are controlled though the Hive app, which I found straightforward to navigate after some slight initial difficulty in registering. It can be very difficult to provide a thorough analysis on X-Line, as the range differs in so many ways.

As for the View outdoor camera and Siren, these feel much more robust than the sensor products, probably because they’ve been made to withstand more extreme outdoor environments such as weathering. The camera, especially, looks well made and expensive, and even though the Siren is the largest product in the lineup, it doesn’t look out of place on the front of the house. The Hive HomesShield is a great all-round home security product, especially for those who don’t know where to start when it comes to operating a connected security system. The only real downside is the limited installation, which requires two 3-prong plugs nearby to power the outdoor Siren and View cams. But if you're looking for a good all-round home security product that’s easy to use and can be extended as and when you need it, then HomeShield is a great shout.
Hive Modular B-Line Homes
It says that I am spending considerably more than I really am. The app says I am spending double what I really am, this is going to be hugely misleading and anxiety causing for people who don't understand the calculations. When i looked at what I was getting, I could see it was of no value to me and decided to allow them to cancel. I have since received endless reminders both by text and email until today i received both a text and an email advising that my account would be passed to a debt collection agency.
Completing the construction is the installation of windows, doors, and any other elements to the modules. The hive modular houses have this very distinctive boxy, cardboard-like design. The rectangular building usually consists of two-story modular that accommodates possible modifications or additions.
Oddly, the recently launched camera requires a separate app and does not integrate with the rest of the Hive products. Hive would also be more useful if it could easily integrate products from other vendors, although you can use IFTTT services for heating and lighting. As Hive adds to its device portfolio this may become less of an issue, but it does makes for a more closed system than some might like.

It's easy to set up; you pair it with the Hub and it starts working immediately. During our tests it worked well and picked up most motion at a range of three metres within a claimed 94-degree field of view. Hive’s modular homes are built with wood framed construction materials, much like a traditional site-built home. But the main difference is that the modular home is reinforced and strengthened, so it can withstand over-the-road travel. There have been a number of changes to the Hive app over the past few years as the system has evolved.
